SAINTS B GET VITAL POINTS AT GALBALLY

FIRST DIVISION LEAGUE

Saints got their noses in front over the first half hour but were kept up to their work by a reailient Galbally outfit who rallied well in the second half. Saints started well and a Brian Lowry cross had Galbally on the backfoot. At the other end Conor Hennebry saw his header crash off the crossbar from a Bernard O'Brien corner kick on 5 mins but a free out was awarded. Nicky Cummins saved from Patrick Murphy on 6 mins. Alan O'Donnell shot wide on 7 mins after good work from Luke Quinn. Conor Hennebry was dangerous from set pieces and headed just wide on 10 mins from a Bernard O'Brien free kick. Alan O'Donnell made a good run on 17 mins from a Jonathan Kennedy pass and won a corner kick. Richie Ryan again found Alan O'Donnell with a pass but he saw the ball go wide under pressure from a defender. Saints went 1-0 up on 23 mins when Cian Crowe forced a defender into an own goal after good work by Alan O'Donnell. Galbally nearly levelled on 23 mins when David McGrath saw his deft lob come back off the crossbar. Saints went 2-0 up on the half hour when a Brian Lowry cross saw Sean Mullins head back over his keeper Aidan Sheehan and Luke Quinn had an easy tap in from close range. Saints spurned a good chance on 32 mins when Alan O'Donnell again opened up the play and released Luke Quinn but he pulled his shot across the goal and wide.

HALF TIME:

Quinn Perry came in for Galbally at half time and this brought an improvement in the Galbally attack. Saints were caught napping on 46 mins when Bernard O'Brien made space and hit a peach of a goal with his left foot from 20 yards. Galbally came for the equaliser and Jonathan Kennedy did well to cut out a David McGrath cross for a corner on 51 mins. Conor Hennebry again went close from Bernard O'Brien's corner kick. Saints gave themselves a bit of breathing space on 54 mins when Luke Quinn made it 3-1 when he made space well and scored with a left foot finish. Nicky Cummins did well to come out and smother a ball on 62 mins. The game was end to end and Bernard O'Brien saw his snap shot hit the side netting. Alan O'Donnell was fouled on 72 mins and Brian Lowry saw his free kick deflected out for a corner kick. Richie Ryan and Luke Quin had two good chances in succession to increase Saints lead. Luke Quinn spurned a great chance on 77 mins but his left foot shot was too weak at Aidan Sheehan after he was released by Cian Crowe. Alan O'Donnell following up hit his effort just outside the post. Saints wrapped up the points on 83 mins when Alan O'Donnell was brought down in the area from a Mark Flannery pass and he duly made it 4-1 from the penalty spot. Galbally came straight back when Frankie Leonard hit narrowly wide from a Jonathan Scully pass. Cian Crowe turned well on 87 mins and brought a good save from Aidan Sheehan. Saints did enough to take the points with Jonathan Kennedy, Alan O'Donnell and Cian Crowe catchng the eye. Best for Galbally were Conor Hennebry, Bernard O'Brien , Patrick Murphy and David McGrath.
